We hurried home
wet through the weather
damp and slow
bread and leather.
Surrender time
shoulder and temper
a hole to bury unwanted tethers
a pearl picked clean
bone stripping
vibrating repelled and pulled in.
The vulture cleans the bones
the baggage
licked us from our homes
emptied our jackets
confused our limbs
and even you in your aquarium
the lake will break in
moments of death have the fullest expression of all
this is life
I want you to keep your mountains still and find your own way back to feel.
Don't say you can't any more.
